An audio component rack provides a secure and attractive platform to store your stereo components. A bookshelf with wooden doors or glass adds another layer of protection against dust. Ventilation is a critical issue in development of components in an audio rack and orderly organization of power cables and audio cables.
Many audio component rack organizers have cable on back and adjustable shelving for amplifiers and receivers have plenty of space to dissipate heat. Adjust audio rack shelf to accommodate all components, leaving at least 1 inch of space above and below platform to amplifier or receiver. These components produce heat most of equipment in your system and need room to breathe prevent overheating.
Place parts on shelves so that audio component rack is balanced. For example, you can place heavier components in near bottom of grid for stability. Route wires power and audio cables through holes in back of rack cabinet. End of each audio cable with a small piece of tape to label, write name of component connected to that wire so you know which wires connect to amplifier or receiver connectors. Plug power cord for each component into a socket on terminal, which can then be plugged into a wall outlet.
